We are recruiting autistic youth (ages 14-21) and their parents to participate in a study on supporting the transition-to-adulthood. Families will be asked to complete a survey at the beginning and at the end of the study. Families will be randomly assigned to either receive a referral to work with a BMC transition specialist or to partake in a multi-family group education and support program called Transitioning Together. As part of Transitioning Together, families will meet once individually with program facilitators and then they will meet for four group sessions. At the group sessions, parents will meet with other parents to receive information on transition planning and to address specific concerns. At the same time, the participating autistic youth will partake in a social group with other youth on the spectrum.

Compensation

Up to $100 for the comparison group and up to $300 for the Transitioning Together group

To Participate

The autistic youth must be living at home and currently enrolled in school.
